Big Orders for Scanjet Macron

Scanjet Macron has received the order from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) for four very large car carriers for Wallenius Wilhelmsen, the world's largest car carrier owners and operators.

Our supply consists of the new fully digital SML 1000D tank level gauging and draft measuring system.

DSME was looking for a new affordable and reliable tank level gauging system, and we are very pleased that this famous shipyard decided to propose Scanjet Macron for the shipowner. The shipowner accepted the shipyards proposal without any hesitation, because they know Scanjet Macron engineers very well from our earlier engagement with the shipyard.

Now also Brazil Representative

The Brazilian shipbuilding and offshore industry is rapidly growing and gaining high importance.

We are pleased to inform that Scanjet Macron now is locally represented in Brazil by the esteemed company Tetralon Ind.Com. Equips. Ltd.

This means we can easily communicate with Brazilian shipowners, shipyards and offshore operators in best possible way, providing highly qualified professional support and service.

Scanjet Success at Nor-Shipping

The Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo 9-12 June 2009 was a major success for the Scanjet Group.

For the first time we had a joint exhibition stand for Scanjet Marine and Scanjet Macron, where we exhibited several products from the two companies.

These included the following three innovative next generation new products for the shipping industry:

- Bio25 self-cleaning rotating spray head
- SC 40RT75° inclined tank cleaning machine
- SML 1000D fully digital tank level and draft measuring system

All our new products received very much positive attention from visiting ship owners, operators, and shipyards.

Bio25 – the high efficiency self-cleaning rotating spray head

At the Scanjet stand we had a big tank with glass sides showing three different rotating cleaning heads in operation: the Bio 5, the new Bio25 and the SC 30A Multistage with SC 180 air driven motor.

The Bio25 is a new self-cleaning, four nozzle spray head for hygienic cleaning of fresh water tanks onboard.
It can also be used for cleaning other non-oil tanks onboard, including sewage tanks, grey and black water tanks.

The patented design allows the rotating spray head not only to clean tanks efficiently, but also to clean the spray head itself both outside and inside. The spray head is attached to a vertical downpipe inside the tank.
The downpipe is also efficiently cleaned by the rotating spray head.

Consequently, the fresh water tanks can be cleaned with Bio25 without any risk for contamination of the fresh water tanks as there is no need to open the tank hatches for cleaning purposes.

The spray head is driven by cold or heated fresh water, there is no electricity or oil involved.

The rinse water from fresh water tanks can be pumped into the sea as there are no chemicals involved in the tank cleaning process, only fresh water.

Pressure range: 0-12 bar (0-175 PSIG)
Jet length range (radius): 0-21 m (0-69 feet)
Flow range: 0-50 m3/hr (0-220 USGPM)

SC 40RT75° inclined tank cleaning machine

This dual nozzle tank cleaning machine is especially developed for platform supply vessels and other ships where the deck area is to be free of any machinery and piping installations. Other applications include all types of ships where it is not possible to operate deck mounted tank cleaning machines, such as cruise vessels, ferries, container ships etc.

The tank cleaning machine is connected to the vertical tank side by a flange, with the rotating cleaning head supported by a vertical rotating shaft providing a full cleaning pattern like all other Scanjet tank cleaning machines.

The drive unit outside the tank uses the Scanjet patented magnetic transmission reducing the need for costly seal replacements and making any maintenance very easy. The greased drive unit is hermetically sealed and there cannot be any leakage from drive unit to the tank.

The SC 40RT75° is automatically driven by the cleaning media. The machine is made of stainless steel and other highly corrosion resistant materials.

Scanjet Macron SML-1000D new tank level gauging and draft measuring system

The Scanjet Macron employees are experts in tank level gauging and draft measuring systems. This includes developing, installing, and commissioning systems onboard all types of newbuildings from the largest tankers and cruise vessels to platform supply vessels and tugs.

We also have experience from retrofit installations on large cruise vessels, tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels etc. We have replaced failed systems with electro-pneumatic air bubbling systems in close cooperation with the Owners. During the pre-survey we check together with the Owner’s superintendents how the retrofit installation should best be carried out and what parts of the old system can possibly used also with the new system.

Now this extensive experience has been used to develop the new affordable and cost efficient tank level gauging and draft measuring system SML-1000D. The focus has been on saving time and money for newbuilds as well as in operation, on easy and safe operation, easy crew based maintenance and reduced system downtime. We tailor-make every system solutions and avoid all forms of overkill!

The system is equally suitable for newbuildings and for retrofit installations.

This system measures continuously the fluid levels of ballast, fuel, fresh water, lube oil and other tanks, as well as drafts. Also water ingress in dry compartments and empty tanks can be detected and level measured with this system.

Scanjet electro-pneumatic fully digital tank level gauging and draft measuring systems are based on measuring the fluid counter pressure in tanks when blowing air through measuring lines.

Standard features include up to 30 measuring points in one cabinet, easy access to all sensors, individual flow rate controllers for every sensor with visual flow rate indicator, built-in non-return valves for back-flow protection, purge possibility for every measuring line, and dryer-filter- pressure regulator unit for every cabinet. Oil mist filter can be added as option.

The measuring cabinets can be distributed by fire zone in cruise vessels and passenger ferries, or as considered appropriate on cargo ships in order to minimize pipe lengths. Up to 15 cabinets can be installed in parallel to the same serial line with a total number of 450 measuring points.

Measuring range is from 0 to 40 metres tank height, with a system accuracy including sensor of 0.20% of
full scale.

All tank levels and drafts can be viewed on the liquid crystal display located inside the cabinet door. The inside mounting is user friendly as the levels can be read at the same time when viewing the performance of the flow controllers. All set values can be changed and alarm information checked from the LCD. This location also provides protection against any mechanical damage to the LCD screen.

The Scanjet Macron tank level gauging and draft measuring system communication is modbus RTU mode interface, 2 x RS-485 serial line with speed up to 19,200 baud.
